Tim McGraw Show Marred by Violence Leads to Six Arrests

The father of three girls has been explicit about his intolerance of violence at any of his shows.

Tim McGraw has been known to break up the occasional brawl during his energy-packed concerts, but a fight during his show had the country superstar leaving matters to the police.

At a July 24 concert in Mansfield, Mass., six men walked away with serious legal charges, while another was left clinging to his life after a brutal beating. According to NECN.com, a fight allegedly erupted over a woman, but was fueled by excessive use of alcohol. The victim, a 19-year-old Westwood, Mass., resident, is still hospitalized in serious condition with severe head injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery.

“He stated he was talking to a girl when he was approached and confronted by someone and the fight started,” Bristol County Assistant District Attorney Mark Donovan explains. “He was being attacked by several people, kicked and punched.”

All six men have been charged with assault and battery, with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for August 16.

The father of three girls has been explicit about his intolerance of violence at any of his shows, which is why he is so quick to jump to action when unruly behavior occurs. During a concert in Washington earlier this summer, he ejected a woman whose drunken antics he deemed unacceptable.

“You’ve got to go … Y’all, chill out! Take it easy,” Tim insisted from stage. “You’ve got to go, you’ve got no choice in the matter!”

The 44-year-old is continuing his Emotional Traffic tour — hopefully drama-free — this week with stops in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. Keep track of his schedule here.

Bucky Faces Felony Theft Charges

Promoter says he stole $1,500 at show.

A show promoter in Florida has accused Bucky Covington and Bucky’s twin brother and sister-in-law of stealing about $1,500 cash, according to a police report posted by TMZ.com. Bucky has taken to his Twitter account to deny any wrongdoing.

In the police report, the promoter says Bucky was set to play June 30 at the Iron Horse Saloon in Ormond Beach, Fla. And here’s where things get a little confusing. That promoter, William Fuller, says he ended up going to the hospital around 9 that night. And when he did, Fuller says Bucky “directed” his twin brother/drummer, Rocky, and Rocky’s wife, Terra, to snatch the cash at the front door. Fuller alleges Terra even sold tickets at the door and pocketed the money.

Bucky’s response: “Hey Guys and Gals, I’m sure most of you have seen the news on TMZ. This story is absolutely false in every way. I would never steal anything from anyone. I did not get paid, but went on to play my full show and had a great time performing for fans! I thank all of you for your continued support!”

Bucky went on to tell The Daytona Beach News-Journal that Fuller didn’t pay any of the vendors that night. “This is just a paint job gone bad,” Covington told the paper.

A Florida state’s attorneys office spokeswoman says the charges are under investigation. Bucky, Rocky and Terra all face felony grand theft charges.

Reba McEntire Wants to Put Kids to Work!

While labor laws restricting working hours for minors have their benefits, Reba maintains that they also have their detriments.

Reba McEntire grew up working on a farm — a demanding upbringing she credits with forming the work ethic that steers her now superstar career. Thankful for the long hours she put in as a child and teenager, the singer/actress/entrepreneur regrets that today’s younger generation doesn’t have similar opportunities.

“Kids have a hard time finding part-time jobs,” Reba tells GAC. “You have to be a certain age before you can work at this job [or] work at that job. When we’re out in the country we have lots of jobs, to take care of the animals, the livestock and jobs that we did when I was a kid.”

Reba’s 21-year-old son, Shelby Blackstock, recently enrolled in racing school, with the hope of becoming a professional driver. His motivation to succeed, his proud mother notes, is at least partly because of his own roles and responsibilities as he was growing up.

“When we were on the farm, Shelby [would be] out there bushhogging or mowing,” the 56-year-old mom recalls. “When you’re in the city, it’s hard to find a job for the kids. I wish there were more things for kids to do to get jobs at an earlier age.”

While labor laws restricting working hours for minors have their benefits, Reba maintains that they also have their detriments. “I understand why they enforce this law and why they put it into action is because of the child labor laws, but also, it has hurt our country in a way,” she notes.

The wife of Narvel Blackstock (and step-mom to his three kids from a previous marriage) says she followed one rule as their children were growing up: “You have to stand firm on what you tell kids to do but then stand back and be patient and see how they’re going to react,” she tells The Boot. “That’s hard for us, to be patient.”

LeAnn Rimes Announces ‘Lady and Gentlemen’ Release Date

The new project is the follow-up to LeAnn's 2007 album, 'Family.'

Have you ever wondered what one of Waylon Jennings, George Jones or Merle Haggard’s country classics would sound like sung from a modern female prospective? LeAnn Rimes found inspiration in this creative concept, resulting in ‘Lady and Gentlemen,’ the Texas native’s new covers collection due out September 27.

“This album was born out of the memories of when I first fell in love with country music and in reflecting, I realized that almost all of my favorite country songs from back then were sung by men,” LeAnn shares. “I am honored to take a step back in time and sing these songs from a woman’s perspective and hopefully help reintroduce them to a new audience.”

LeAnn first introduced the project with ‘Swingin’,’ a remake of John Anderson’s 1983 No. 1 country hit. The song earned the singer her latest Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. The album also features two original songs, including LeAnn’s most recent Top 40 single, ‘Crazy Women,’ as well as her current single, ‘Give.’ It was the inclusion of those two new songs that reportedly caused the postponement of the CD release, which was originally scheduled for October 2010.

Speaking on her new single, LeAnn gushes, “‘Give’ is a powerful song with a message that I believe needs to be shared with the world, especially in these times of today. I’m so honored to sing this song and help spread that message.”

The singer claims co-producer credits on ‘Lady and Gentlemen,’ sharing the producer chair with country superstar Vince Gill and longtime co-writer Darrell Brown. The new project is the follow-up to LeAnn’s 2007 album, ‘Family.’

Rascal Flatts Hears God Through Their New Single

The threesome continue to work on their next studio album in between summer Flatts Fest tour dates.

“For any artist, your career starts and ends with a great song. Period. Bar none. Nothing else on the planet matters in your career if you don’t have good songs,” Rascal Flatts lead singer Gary LeVox tells the Vancouver Sun. “Nobody works if the song isn’t great and touches people’s hearts. It’s about the music first. That’s what we work so hard at, finding great songs.”

‘I Won’t Let Go,’ the band’s most recent chart success, touched the singer in a profound way. “It was spiritual for me, it was what God was saying to me: ‘You may fall but I won’t let go,’” Gary says. “That’s the power of a great song, a universal lyric that means so many different things to so many different people.”

With 11 No. 1 singles spanning a decade-long career, the talented trio know better than anyone that a singer is only as good as the songs they choose to record. The group has amassed worldwide album sales exceeding 20 million since their debut in 2000, but Gary is the first to admit he is still surprised by Rascal Flatts’ overwhelming success.

“You can’t even dream that big,” he says. “I far exceeded my dreams as a kid so long ago. Country radio, our fans, it’s really been a fairy tale. We’re having more fun today than ever. We’ve got at least another 10 years left. We’re ready to go, we’re rockin’. They’re going to have to wheel us off of the stage.”

The threesome continue to work on their next studio album in between summer Flatts Fest tour dates. The new project will be the follow-up to their 2010 album, ‘Nothing Like This,’ which features the new single, ‘Easy,’ featuring pop singer Natasha Bedingfield.
