Brad Paisley Touts Carrie Underwood’s Vocal Prowess

"I think she's the best singer we have, maybe ever had," Brad tells FOX News

It’s hardly a secret that Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood have a great deal of mutual admiration for one another. And Brad continues to sing Carrie’s praises as often as he can.

“I think she’s the best singer we have, maybe ever had,” Brad tells FOX News of his ‘Remind Me’ duet partner. “When she came into the studio and sang her parts for this song, she nailed it.”

The sultry duet appears on Brad’s current album, ‘This Is Country Music,’ and serves as the third radio single from the critically-acclaimed collection. Carrie reveals that the collaboration was a long time coming, but admits both artists didn’t want to jump the gun.

“We’re not gonna sing ‘Yankee Doodle Dandy’ just because we both know it and we need to sing together,” Carrie quips. “We both wanted to do this.”

She adds, “It was the most unorganized thing I had ever been a part of. I had never done anything like that before. It all worked out so perfectly. I was so happy. I felt like that was given to us. I was so excited about the song once the words became established and I was so happy he didn’t deliver [his album] on time. It kept it in the moment, just doing it off the cuff. It wouldn’t have been the same song had we recorded it and recorded it.”

The singing partners also recently announced they will reunite to host the 2011 CMA Awards, marking the fourth-consecutive year for the duo. “I love working with Carrie,” Brad confesses, “She’s a class act and a complete balance to my non-class act. I’ll try my best to not mess it up.”

Carrie shares similar feelings for the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year. “I’m so honored to be asked back with my friend, Brad,” she says. “The creative process of getting ready for the show is a blast, and I look forward to sharing Country Music’s Biggest Night with all the fans!”

‘Remind Me’ currently sits at No. 12 on Billboard’s Country Songs chart, and is the follow-up to Brad’s No. 1 single, ‘Old Alabama.’

Pat Green Defends Mainstream Country Music

"It's difficult to make music for a large company, because they are spending millions to make you famous.

Texas native Pat Green has received his fair share of criticism for uprooting his wildly successful regional career for Nashville’s Music Row ties, but the ‘Wave on Wave’ singer adamantly defends his decision to go mainstream, citing the exposure he received as a major label recording artist.

“I experienced a great deal of success there [Nashville],” Pat tells MyWestTexas. “It’s difficult to make music for a large company, because they are spending millions to make you famous. My humble opinion is that if someone is going to spend millions of dollars to make me money, then I’m going to listen to their opinion. Like it or not, I’m going to listen to it.

“A lot of times I stood on the desk and stomped my feet,” the singer continues. “I did that at the appropriate moment, and they forced my hand a time or two. But everybody for the most part made their best bet. I totally understand why there are numerous people who come out of record labels and feel like they got spit out. At the same time, there are a lot stories like mine where we had some huge hits.”

At the height of his commercial success, Pat received his first Top 5 hit in 2003 with ‘Wave on Wave,’ with the album of the same name selling more than a half-million copies. The singer followed up that success with two Top 20 singles, ‘Feels Just Like It Should’ and ‘Let Me.’ His 2009 album, ‘What I’m For,’ was his last as a major-label recording artist.

As for his next career move, Pat reveals, “I’m signing with a company that is going to allow me to butter my own muffin, if you will. I don’t have to make corporate music anymore. I’m kind of past that point in my life. The music that made the most headway for me were songs that no record label would touch. I had to pretty much force-feed them on that stuff.”

Tim McGraw Continues Tour Despite Broken Foot

The country superstar continued his Emotional Traffic tour over the weekend with a broken foot

For Tim McGraw, the show must go on, even if that means wearing a cast and relying on a cane to accomplish the task. The country superstar continued his Emotional Traffic tour over the weekend with a broken foot, proving that nothing will keep the veteran entertainer off the stage.

“FOOTBALL, BASEBALL, car wrecks, bar fights, high school rodeo … and this is the first broken bone I’ve ever had!” the 44-year-old wrote on his Facebook page.

While rumors are swirling as to just how the injury occurred, during his concert Friday night (July 8) in Raleigh, N.C., Tim seemed to suggest that it was the fault of one of his opening acts, Luke Bryan. (But we’re pretty sure he was joking.) Regardless of the circumstances, the tour will continue.

“Tim wants to thank his fans for their support at his show in Raleigh last night,” his management said in a statement on Saturday. “For the first time in his career, he performed in a cast [due to a broken foot], and experienced a momentary pacing setback. He looks forward to a great show tonight in Virginia Beach and the rest of this summer’s Emotional Traffic Tour.”

A broken foot isn’t the only setback Tim has faced in recent months. He’s also embroiled in a lawsuit with Curb Records, over his latest album, ‘Emotional Traffic,’ which has yet to be released. But the singer remains undeterred.

“Right now it’s just a matter of letting the legal system handle this,” says the ‘Felt Good on My Lips’ singer. “All I can do is keep doing what I do. I’ve always been a good, honest guy and done the work the way it needed to be done and fulfilled whatever I’ve been obligated to do. All you can do is hope our good faith pays off in the end.”

Tim’s latest single, ‘Me and Tennessee,’ which he performs with his ‘Country Strong’ co-star Gwyneth Paltrow, is steadily climbing the charts. His tour, which also includes the Band Perry sharing in opening act duties, heads to Ohio and Illinois later this week.

Wynonna Thrills ACM Campers

Lifting Lives Through Music and Karaoke

Wynonna Judd led a group of happy campers in some spirited karaoke singing at a special performance during the second annual ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp at Winner’s music club in Nashville, Tuesday (June 28).

ACM Lifting Lives, a program started by the Academy of Country Music, helps campers nationwide who are diagnosed with Williams syndrome and other developmental disabilities. Campers got the karaoke ball rolling even before Wynonna arrived, with renditions of the classic Kool & the Gang party song “Celebration,” Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” and others.

As Wynonna entered the club, one camper was finishing up an appropriate tune, Wynonna’s hit single “No One Else on Earth.” Wynonna watched and sang along as others performed karaoke versions of The Judds’ hits “Mama He’s Crazy” and “Grandpa (Tell Me ’Bout the Good Old Days)” and James Taylor’s “Shower the People.” The campers, who have difficulty with language, mobility and independent living, nonetheless show remarkable musical aptitude, as they know the lyrics and melodies by heart. Many have the ability to sing with perfect pitch.

After the performance, Wynonna remarked that the evening gave her a lift as well. “I have to be honest, I was not having a great day,” she told CountryWeekly.com. “But to see the faces of those campers when I walked in was just amazing. Their joy is infectious.” She added that we can all take a lesson from the campers’ happy spirits.

“I watched one sing every single nuance of a song and he didn’t give a rip what anyone thought,” Wynonna said with a smile. “If we could be as free and not worry so much about what other people think, we’d be a lot happier.”
